STAFF INSURANCE COVERAGES
HEALTH INSURANCE
The City of Baker School Board shall contract with a health care provider for health, hospitalization, and life insurance benefits for its eligible employees, retirees, and/or their spouses and children. The School Board may pay any portion of an employee’s premium it so designates.
Retiree Benefits
Upon an employee’s retirement, the City of Baker School Board shall pay a portion of the cost of health care premiums for all full-time employees, based on the number of years of service within the City of Baker School System, in accordance with the following schedule:

Individuals who worked for the East Baton Rouge Parish School System (EBRPSS) during the 2002-2003 school years will be vested for a portion of health care premiums to the same extent they were vested with EBRPSS, provided the employee commits to a minimum of three (3) years employment with the City of Baker School System. For any such employee who retires having worked less than the three (3) full years, the City of Baker School Board shall not pay any portion of health care premiums.
Effective upon approval: Any employee hired on or before July 1, 2006, or any employee who was retired on or before June 7, 2016, will be grandfathered under the old benefit schedule below:

UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION
The School Board shall use the reimbursing employer method of participating in financing the School Board's share of unemployment compensation as permitted by state law.
AUTOMOBILE LIABILITY INSURANCE
The City of Baker School Board shall require personnel within the school district, who use their own vehicles while on official school business during the course of their employment, to carry automobile liability insurance. The amount of coverage shall be at least that required by state law or a minimum which may be set by the School Board.
