2017 Cecil J. Picard Educator Excellence Awards Gala

This year’s 2017 Cecil J. Picard Educator Excellence Awards Gala was a “sold out” stellar affair, held at the Crowne Plaza Executive Center in Baton Rouge on Friday, July 28, 2017 from 5:30 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

Dream Teachers and the Louisiana Department of Education, in cooperation with the Louisiana Association of Principals, presented "Starry, Starry Night: An Evening of Distinction." This black-tie optional event honored Louisiana's most outstanding public and public charter school educators for academic and community achievement.

More than 650 guests celebrated the accomplishments of incredible Louisiana educators from throughout the state. The event was live-streamed to key news outlets.

Attending from The City of Baker School System was our 2017 Principal of the Year, Mrs. Lakesha Reese-Penn, who was also a State Principal Semi Finalist Principal of the Year.

Please see photos of Principal Penn, along with her special guests, below.
