Baker's Annual MLK Program Features City of Baker Singers

Monday, January 21, 2019: An ensemble from the Baker Middle School Choir provided music for the City of Baker's Annual Celebration Program honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The ensemble conducted by Mrs. Tamesha Earvin, Director of Choral Activities, performed "I Hear America Singing by Andre Thomas. The song features a contemporary message of unity and quotes the famous Spiritual "Walk Together Children."

The guest speaker was State Representative, Dr. Barbara Carpenter, who was so inspired to requote lyrics from the song and to speak words of encouragement to the young singers.

Following Dr. Carpenter's speech Ms. Coleene Ennis, Elementary Music Specialist and Baker High School Choir Director, performed a stunning rendition of a spiritual medley "Give Me Jesus and This Little Light of Mine."

The ensemble and Ms. Ennis were accompanied by Supervisor Everrett Parker.
