COVID-19 Update: Effective September 16, 2020
THE DEADLINE TO APPLY FOR DISTANCE LEARNING VIRTUAL OPTION IS 11:59 PM, THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 2020
The City of Baker of School System (COBSS) announces Updated Phase Three Student Return Schedule Baker, La. - Governor John Bel Edwards signed a proclamation on Friday, September 11, 2020, that moves Louisiana into Phase Three of the reopening plan. This announcement allows the City of Baker School System to begin transitioning students back to in-person learning. In accordance with the Louisiana Department of Education phase three guidance, group sizes increase from 25 to 50, and bus capacity moves from 50% to 75%. The COBSS will continue to adhere to all safety measures including the following: social distancing to the greatest extent possible; wearing face coverings; monitoring symptoms; notifying close contacts; maintaining static groups whenever possible.
In accordance with the Governor’s proclamation on September 11, 2020, the following adjustments shall exist until further notice:
Pre-K to 5th grade will attend school 5 days per week. (unless the parent has opted to remain in the virtual instructional model)
6th – 8th grade will attend school 5 days per week face- to-face effective September 28th 2020. (unless the parent has opted to remain in the virtual instructional model)
9th – 12th grade will attend in the hybrid model effective September 28th 2020. On Oct. 19th all students will attend school face to face. (unless the parent has opted to remain in the virtual instructional model)
