Mrs. Elaine G. Davis
Mrs. Davis is a retired Assistant State Director of Special School District in the Louisiana Department of Education and she taught for 11 years in East Baton Rouge Parish as a helping teacher and speech pathologist. Mrs. Davis received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Jackson State University, a Master of Science Degree from the University of Illinois and 30 hours plus from Southern University in Education Administration and Supervision.
She is a life member of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), life member of the National Education Association, Louisiana Association of Educators (Retired), a member of the Louisiana School Boards Association where she serves on the Federal Relations Network Committee, the National School Boards Association, Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority and Greater Mount Carmel Baptist Church.
She was a YWCA 2001 Women in Achievement Nominee, she has been honored for her service by the Baker-Zachary Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and Louisiana Chapter of the Conference of Black Mayors. Her most recent honor was the MLK Lifetime Service Award Achievers Award for her high profile service to the Louisiana Community.
Mrs. Davis represents District #1 on the City of Baker School Board, but as a career educator, she truly believes in a quality education, first class learning environments and safe schools for all children in the Baker School District.
She is married to Dr. Leroy Davis and they are parents to twin sons, Garvin H. Davis, M.D., M.P.H. and Griffin L. Davis, M.D., M.P.H., who are products of the public school system, and four precious grandchildren, Cameron, McKenzie, Blair and Dylan.
